Default Fog LED's on 98 WS6

Hey guys I've done a lot of reading on this site and it seems there's a great variation in what people are doing with their fog lights. I guess my simple question is if I buy a 880 LED bulb for my fogs can I simply remove the old halogen and replace it with the new one without any modification? I do not care about functional light - IMO that is what your low beams are for and besides, it's illegal to use your fogs as the primary light source. I just want it to look cool 6000k.

Yeah, plug and play. It won't be functional light, but you can use it as a DRL or something.

Does anyone know if I can just pop the headlights up and reach down to replace the stock fog light bulb, or do I need to go in from the bottom panel. I would like to avoid going in from the bottom, if possible.

You can go in from underneath only and the car won't even need to be jacked up. I've done it multiple times.

I looked underneath there are 3 plastic buttons. Do you pop them off with a screwdriver? Then does it fold down or do you have to bend the fender downwards?

Yep, pop them out with a screw driver. The flap bends down easily, but you've gotta hold it down with one hand while reaching up with the other. Just feel around and you'll get it.

just put up your headlights, remove headlight trim and you have a lot of room to reach down to the fog/driving lights. did you receive the new led bulbs?

I believe it all depends if you have a Formula or a Trans Am, with the Formula since the fogs are right below the headlights, opening the headlight and removing the trim would more than likely be the way to go, but if you have a Trans Am, I believe the only way is underneath in the center, as said before by removing the 3 pushpins and holding the bumper flap down with 1 hand and replacing with the other.

oh, one more thing, if it is a Trans Am and you do go underneath, make sure youre wearing safety glasses, as when you pull down the flap, any dust/dirt that accumulated will fall in your eyes, ask me how I know.

I have the bulbs. Plan to try install tomorrow. Thanks for all the advice everyone. But there still seems to be some debate of whether to go in from bottom or pop the headlights and through the top. Anyone else have input who have done it themselves either way?

If you have a Trans Am, as I do, my honest opinion, you will not be able to go in from the top, I was out looking at my car and from what I was seeing, the front bumpers impact bar is going to be in your way. And one further note the way the foglight bracket is designed, you have to unbolt the foglight housing from the impact bar to remove the bulb, which can only be done from underneath. Also, in the Trans Ams, the foglights are bolted to the impact bar where on the Formula they are bolted directly to the bumper.

I don't know if the design changed, but my 2002 Trans am didn't require the bracket coming off to change bulbs. The housing and bracket stay put and you just twist the bulbs out like normal. Just go out and try it, this is really simple.

They are in. I went from the bottom, pulled out the 3 clips. Then unbolted the 2 screws of the bracket, unclipped the wire, then turned the bulb counterclockwise and out. I think you need to unbolt because otherwise very tight in there and it helps to be able to move it around. These LED'S are just as bright if not brighter than stock. With that said, I am extremely pleased. Check out the before and after pics.
