Default eBay Dashboard Replacement Issues

Hey. I was wondering if anyone ever did a complete dashboard replacement from eBay.

The mounting tab on the far left on the driver side is just slightly too far to the right and won't go in..how did you guys do it?

I recently read someone on here had the same problem. They cut that tab off.

IIRC, you have to remove the interior A pillars, then just pull up on the dashpad, if its the OEM dashpad it would probably crack in many pieces(ask me how I know) depending on what year your car is, there's a security light on the dashpad, 96-97 models is near the center vent on the dashpad and in the 98-02 dashpad it is in the center vent on the dashpad.

Remove T-tops, remove pillar arms. Assuming old dash pad is already removed, angle the new dash pad and bend slightly, should fit. It is does not, trim sides with snips or slight sander / grinder pad use. Recommend wrapping pad though. I removed the vent portion in my das pad. Smoothed out entire opening with sander/ grinder. Had it wrapped it marine grade black vinyl. For the vent in the dash, I used small size expanded metal, almost like soffit vent, cut to fit, spray painted gloss black.

That version looks pretty good, did they work out the bugs with it?

After all these years, mine developed a crack. It was garage kept for the first 16 years, but spent the past 5 months outside, and I guess it took it's toll.

I think him and the old lady called it quits as he mentioned quite awhile ago in his build thread IIRC. I'm sure it went great.

Hope you get somewhere to store and work on her again soon dude.

I cringe at such things happening to my car. Sail panel, dash board, door panels. My car hasn't seen the light of day in over two years. Sleep safe my precious....

Yeah, things have ended, and I'm now looking for a new place to call home for the bird.
