Default T-top trim......

Whats the best way to clean and preserve the black, exterior vinyl trim on T-tops? I cleaned them using Dawn dish soap, then applied Mothers Back-To-Black but they still looked 'dingy' in the sun light.

Car is a unmolested 2000 SS, 3250 original miles.

Thanks for knowledgeable replys.......Craig.

Thanks for any help Gents.

i just put some black magic tire shine on a towel and run it alone all my trim..and the front bracket for the windshield wipes..and the side rubber on the doors...

and it makes it look pitch black like it should try it.

Default I use Zaino Z16

The Tire gloss (rubber & trim) Protectant from Zaino. It's gives the rubber a clean and not too shiny look. Goes on easy and lasts at least 4 or 5 washes if not more. I use this stuff on all the exterior rubber and black plastic on my car.

I wouldnt use any kind of tire shining product on the vinal pieces. That stuff is made to soak into a rubber compound, not vinal trim. It may look good now, but in a year it may ruin it. I would suggest using Turtle wax Formula 2001. This is what I use on my interior, and also on all the black vinal on the exterior. It is made for it, and really does look good, its worth a try and a safe one at that.

Fry....what does Turtle Wax 2001 consist of? I certainly don't want any type of wax on it.

Dunno if it really has any wax in it. It is made for vinal and interior pieces. It works really well, and dosnt leave a resadue if you wipe it off after you let it soak in. I used to use it on my crx and its black trim would be gray until I put a coat of 2001 on it. Go take a look at the bottle at the store to see if it has any wax, I would look but I am not at home right now. Merry Christmas.

Hey I Know This Is A Little Off But I've Noticed You Know If You Clean And Treat Ur Rubber Trim On Ur Car It Eventually Leaves A Line Where The Trim Meets The Window ( Have Dark Tinted Windows) Anybody Else Had This Problem Before I No Over Time It Does Leave A Line Where The Trim Rubs The Window Tint Alont The Top Part, This Happened To My Other Car, Was Just Wandering If There's Anyway Of Preventing It Besides Not Treating The Rubber Trim On The Wside Windows.............
