a4 shifter adapter?

How well do the A4 shift **** adapter kits work? Does it make the shifter sit higher than the stock one?

It will sit higher compared to stock with the adapter, but I've seen people trim the shaft down to make it look better. You should be able to find some info if you do a 'search'

The only thing I don't like about those is that you have to push the **** down before you can shift gears.... that just seems odd to me.

Seems normal to me.
I dont see whats odd about it.
It still has the safety lockout.
I've driven a selection of cars (american and foreign) and this is how some of them are.
