Do you want blue or hyperwhite? I think the general consensus is that hyperwhite (very bright white as opposed to the "yellow" looking factory..... similar to the HID you see in factory cars such as BMW) looks better, but it depends on your taste. Autozone sells Sylvania Silverstars, which are a very good hyperwhite bulb. They should get you what you want.

No blue tint at all, even though the bulb looked blueish.
Its just a name i guess, fooled me.

I got some replacements with a mod to use xenon bulbs and they offer the blue or white and are definately brighter than the low glow stock IMO. I can actually see further and clearer at night (what an idea).
http://www.lmperformance.com/1887/1.html has the bulbs. There is a conversion kit for the high/low beams on the Firebird, PM if you need the site since it is not a sponsor.

When I bought my totaled Z, it had those Xenon blue jobbies in there. Weren't worth a pinch of **** at night when you need light. Silverstars are the cat's *** if you're looking for closest to HID lighting. Otherwise, if you want OTHER people to like your lights, put the smurfs in. I do, however, still have the blue ones in my highs. I know, I know........contradict myself. Those only look cool during the day when the lights are off. You can see them in this pic.

Blue Lights suck. They look good but that's about it. Blue light is of the poorest quality that it really doesn't illuminate the road ahead of you; instead most of it bounces off the surface of the road. This is due to the frequency of the light waves that compose the blue light. This gets even worse when the road is wet. I guarantee that you won't see ****. One more thing that I learned in Medical school is that blue light does not provoke a pupillary reaction and you are going to hurt the eyes of oncoming drivers. Silverstars on the other hand are quite good; nice white light.

Yup, blue light is the hardest light to see in and focus on. That is why its not used to illuminate instrumentation. There are exceptions (like newer VW cars and Cobalt gauges), but they are that way for the "cool factor".

With my TA I have the bright white xenon bulbs and they kick *** over the stock (the stock sux IMO). Still the Audi has a brighter and crisper light than my TA with bright white xenon.
I cannot explain it but I know it to be true.

let me tell you. I have had both blue bulbs and Sylvania silverstars.. The silverstars worked so perfect in the stock housing. On the other hand the blue were sucky, it seemed broken up in 10 diff. places on the road.

The blue I am talking about is a real solid blue (kinda like late model VW Jetta interiors) not the Audi HIDs. The blue (or purple on other OEM HIDs) is more from optics than the bulb (although the bulb's light is faintly blue).
The reason that the blue light issue was brought up is that even at this intensity blue is dimmer then yellow or white (the brightest). I was just confirming what was said. For the ammount of power consumed (bulb wattage is actually power comsumption rating), the white light will brighten up the area better than the blue light (higher lumens output).

you can get the blue ones from www.eurodezigns.com and you can see fine with them, in my opinion they are better than the silverstars, I have used both.
