Talking Uh-oh! The totally new engine bay is done, pics!!

Well, to make an understatement, I been kinda busy last couple months in the garage here

I had the trans out since I broke it so I just yanked the motor out so I could totally re do my engine bay top to bottom left to right and all that jazz.

I had posted some pics awhile back of the new paint job my buddy who paints cars did for me..3 coats of paint and 5 coats of clean, its insane, the entire bay, frame rails, bumper support thing, you name it.

I just finished it tonite as i'm showing the car at world of wheels downtown this weekend(no trans, oh well)...the headers and plug wires aren't in yet(tomorrow) as you'll see in the pics. I re did the interior with some nice touches,too..but forgot to take pics..

Then myself, I did the following things(try to remember)
-painted the block and oil pan black and installed Poly motor mounts
- sanded/smoothed lsx intake, then painted sebring silver, black letters, clearcoated
-painted/clearcoated the coile packs to match
-did the coilpack brackets in a new black with clearcoat
- polished my 78mm throttle body
-polished the timing cover
-did the hide wire mod on passenger side
-relocated fuse boxes and wires to underneath the frame rail on the drivers side
-re polished my valvecovers
-Billingsley ABS delete block..which I polished(it comes in "brushed" form..what a pain that was to polish)
-re did brake lines in gloss black
-did waterpump in black with clearcoat and polished the main pulley
-did alternator and bracket in gloss black
-shortened throttle cable bracket since i have a non TC throttle cable
-re ran/organized all my grounds so they are much more hidden, moved harness by radiator down to frame
-re did all the black wire looms, taped and covered ANY wires/harness that was visible.
-Painted the entire PCM black and clearcoated
-re mounted my line lock and wiring, cleaned all that up
-installed clear corners(finally, i had them for over a year)
-sorta re polished my strut tower brace
-removed un necessary headlight brackets/junk

Tried to focus on everything being just super clean and organized with some trick stuff here and there..tried to do little things that count like polising my coolant cross over tube, front of the heads, etc lol

I think that about covers..now on to the pics

they are ok..had no light..just camera flash, but you get the idea. hoping to get the car in some mags this year(really why i did this, don't care much about this stuff, really just racing)..let me know whatcha guys think..the engine bay as nice as the outside of the car now??

Looks good. Looks like a lot of work. How are you going to be presenting your car at the show now...hood up to show the engine bay, or hood down to show the hood and paint. Where abouts are you going to be at WOW? I know the MFBA will be by the entrance. Are you part of the Speed crew?

nope. not part of the speed crew this year, car will be with the shop cars at their open house again if i have a trans by then and can drive it over there.

i'll be with one other car and a bike. not sure where we are on the floor.

haven't decided how i'll be showing the car...i really hate having the hood up cuz it breaks the flames up(hood is my fav part of my paint, too) but i want to show this off some..hood will be down most of the time if not all the time i imagine.

like i said, pretty much did all this to try and complete the look of the car and get it published.

I agree with leaving the hood down to show off the paint. Maybe if you have time, take high quality pics of the bay and display them by the car or something like that. The engine deserves some credit

I'm sure I'll spot your car there if I go. If I remember correctly,,you got shafted out of a spot at the WOW last year?

good idea. not sure if i'll be able to make that happen in time though.

yeah, last year the whole speed inc group got shafted, we waited on some lazy people and put the apps in too late.

You know, some flamed FRCs would be the crowning touch , done in the colors as the rest of the car.Take'em off at the strip , put 'em on at the shows.

or a quick second thought, how bout an aluminum sheet metel plate to hold the radiator, and just cut the hole out in the center for the intake. that would make it look a TON nicer with little to no cost and very little work

Very nice! Some constructive criticism: replace rusty/corroded radiator hose clamps, and clean up wiring near master cyl. Looks great otherwise!
