Has anybody here installed heated seats in their F-body?
My girlfriend has asked me if I would like heated seat kits for a present. Note that this is her way of saying "i'm tired of freezing my *** of in your car when you insist on driving around with the T-tops off at night". She knows that will not change anytime soon. However, I am certainly not against the idea of heated seats in my TA.
So, I thought I would ask around...has anyone done this? If so, what kit did you use and how did the install go (i.e. anything important that I should know before doing it myself)?
Thanks.

I'm really surprised that not many people have done this.
Thanks. Yours looks great. I never really liked black wheels on any car...but the silver lips on yours really make a difference...they look great for some reason. Mostly because of the bright red paint i'm sure.

I HAD some that I bought from fasttoys.net, they sat in my house for 6 months or so. Finally found someone to install (I could install them now I'm sure hehe) went to install, they didnt work. Called fasttoys, they couldnt take them back. Called the company, returned them and NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. I completely forgot about them, during their "6-8 week" turn around time.
So no heated seats for me lol

I'd like to get a set for my vert, those would be awesome for those cool nights with the top down. You guys that are doing this, post up once you get em done. I'm definitely interested to see how the universal kits fit/work with our seats.

I looked into this last year. I asked a local upholstry shop how much it would be to install them in my convertible and they wanted $200 per seat. Needless to say I have not installed them yet, but eventually I will.
Somewhere I saw a T/A with heated seats. They installed a 3 position button (off, hi, lo) on either side of the cup holder in the center console. It looked totally stock. But for the life of me I can't remember where it was that I saw it.

Heated seats are sweet. My friend has them in his car and man they make a difference. One time I was riding with him and when I got out the car I turned the seat to the highest level. When one of my other friends got in the car to ride with him it took him a while to notice his rear was getting real hot. It was in the middle of summer to.

I've done the drivers seat with the kit like Fasttoys sells. It is probably the highest quality kit available. It was pretty easy. Unbolt the seat. Peel the seat cover off. the bottom of the cover is just hooked over the seat frame with a plastic piece. The seat cover is basically just velcro'd on. Cut the heating pad to size to fit between the velcro. secure the heating pad to the seat foam with the supplied cloth tape. Run the wiring out the bottom of the seat and under the carpet to the console location where you want the switch. Drill the hole for the switch. The switch is about the size of a dime. Run the rest of the wiring to a switched power source in the fuse panel and a ground. Your done.
You will probably have to destroy the little plastic **** on the seat tilt to get it off, but I think it was only 3 dollars at the dealer for a new one. I use the seat heater all the time. Great for cold/cool days. I did not take any pics. but the only thing visible is the switch.
I thought it would be hard to remove the seat cover, but I was used to the old school seats with hogg rings. I originally took the seat out of the car and I was going to take it to an upolstery shop to get it installed, but when I started looking at it, I had it done before I knew it. It took me about 1.5 - 2 hours.

http://www.fasttoys.net/9398fbodyframes.html Go to the interior section and scroll down to the picture of the seat heater. He has a shot of the switches mounted on each side of the cup holder. Hope that helps.
