tried cleaning up headlight lenses unsucessfully, need help
worked on them over the weekend since my novus stuff came in. here's the process i went through.
1.) sand w/ 440 grit
2.) sand w/ 800 grit
3.) sand w/ 1000 grit
4.) wet sand w/ 1000 grit
5.) wet sand w/ 2000 grit
6.) apply novus stage 3 (3-4 coats)
7.) apply novus stage 2 (3-4 coats)
8.) apply novus stage 1
result: much smoother than before i started, but they have more of a haze to them now after all my hours of work, i went through and sanded them all over again, through all 8 steps or so atleast 3 entire times, hoping that maybe i messed up somehow the previous try. but they still are not clear. i saw some people on here post awesome results from doing this, so whats going on? is there something i am missing?
any help is appreciated, cause if i cant fix them i am buying some black halos even though i like the look of the stock headlights painted black better.

I polished mine after sanding with a buffer. I used finesse it 2 (3m ). They came out great. I don't know how aggressive the plastic polish is. I buffed mine pretty hard with the buffer and never got it hot enough to melt or burn it.
I think you will just need to spend a low of time polishing these by hand.
Good luck

get 2k or 2500 grit and hand sand them for a long long time... Then try and polish them again.. What probably happened is that the lower grit paper tore them up too much to buff out!! It happend with the first set I tried, I used 2500 for about an hour and they turned out great..

ok, that could be the case. i had some scratches that looked like they wouldnt come out, so i just sanded more and more. i guess i just need to spend more time on the higher grit, hopefully that will solve the problem.

400 was a too rough, do it with a 1000+ paper and buff with 3M Rubbing Compound 05973. Meguiars makes a two step process for this, a bottle of cleaning solution and another for polishing, you can find it a your autoparts store, but i still believe the 3M sanding process is better.
