Default Painted Engine Bay

Since we have the motor pulled apart, we decided to go ahead and shoot the engine bay. What do you think?

...and this is what Brian (Brains) painted it with

Pretty nice job. I would not have guessed that came from a rattle can.

We did do some prep work and tried to smooth out a few spots. I was actually very pleased with the way it turned out.

We still have another month or so before the entire car will be finished. I plan to have it ready to go for the Power Tour. The intercooler is getting mounted this weekend (pictures of that in the FI section) and the turbo will go on as the motor is put back together.

If you think that looks good, look at the flames on her car! Brian painted those on with a brush and roller!

I like the newspaper mod!

We are now measuring for the I/C piping. The heads will go back on the car today. The cam has already been switched out. The turbo should be mounted by tomorrow. I say by the end of this month, the car should be ready to go! Then we have to send the car off to Keith at Tuff Performance so he can do the custom roll bar.

What did you use to prep the engine bay with?

What solvents?
What abrasive pads?

We used 320 grit sand paper and it was cleaned with PPG fast evap. cleaner. In certain areas we filled and smoothed it. Then it was primed and painted.
