Question I need your opinion on ss hood scoop painting/decal

what is your opinion on painting the hood scoop black on a silver car? I have black wheels. mirrors, and the whole top half of the car is black. I have a SS hood and since it needs paint anyways, I may go this route.

Here is my car

I was also thinking of adding the grand sport stripes in black on top of the painted scoop. Do you think thats overkill?

Or should i just do hockey stripes? and nothing else

Or nothing at all?

do it like the first one, it will look sweet. if you are afraid you might not like it, do a vinyl decal first. then if you like it, you can always have it painted. but the vinly is a major PITA to install, even for experienced vinyl guys. nice car, the stripe will set it up nicely, also look into doing the stripe on the top of the spoiler as well.

I say go for it as well. The stripe on the spoiler will look great too.

I started with vinyl. Two professionals tried, both time it was not perfect. I ended up having it painted. The rear vinyl is only on top of the spoiler/deck lid. I also had the rear done, but by painting I had more versatility:

yeah there you go, perfect example blasst. sweet car.

i also messed up 2 vinyl ones before getting it right, major PITA. luckily the one on my present car was already on it when i bought it. if you think you will like it, it would prob actually end up being cheaper to paint it the first time. rather than paying for 2-3 decals and time to have them each installed, and hope one of them works.

way to go man. the rear end looks great. Painted stripes are definetely the way to go. I dont think it would be over kill at all Tiremarx.

I think painting the scoop looks great and adds a great touch to any ss.

In a few months, i'm getting my hood and front clip painted and I'm going to ask them to paint my scoop red

Paint, although you may not think it, will actually be cheaper in the long run. It looks better, lasts longer, and will work the first time rather than spending money on multiple decals that may not work or install right.

<----- will paint the hood scoop on any 4th gen SS or SS hood I ever own. It looks badass.

I have become more fond of decals lately, I got tired of the painted hood scoop on my car and repainted the hood back white.

If it were a decal I could have removed it easily.

Have good pictures of what you want, every painter has a different oppinion of what something like that should look like.
