I just sanded it a little bit and sprayed mine with satin black paint. Then I got it powdercoated.

Paint chips, I tried painting my friends grille it was chipped within a couple days. Save your money and get it powder coated.

Just go to google then local and type in your city, state, and powder coating. You'll find someone, hopefully.

Powder coating will be a much stronger bond, but can still chip (Highway driving)

I beleive the inside of my grille is alreadey powder coated black and the person that I talked to said that they will have to burn it off to powder coat the whole thing. He said it might warp the alluminum. Your thoughts?

Ask them if media blasting(sand blasting) it will work?

If that grille has the painted sides I doubt its powdercoat, probably just paint.

so does anyone have any idea what black i need? I have a 01 black ss...i think i'm just going to go the cheap way and paint it...even if i have to do it every six month..i do a lot of highway driving..so either way the powder coating or painting will get chipped.

I used a satin black paint on mine before getting it powdercoated.
