Get a bench grinder, a polishing wheel for said grinder, some polishing compound ( not the paste like mothers, some hard compound in the form of a stick ) Some sand paper. Top this off with alot of time, patients and dirty dirty work.

I used 2000 grit wet/dry sand paper on the a/c and smoother stuff and started with 180 and moved to finer on the MAF and rougher stuff and moved down to 2000. Then different grades of scotch brite type pads and finished it with Mother's mag and aluminum polish. Mine turned really wel IMO. You do have to keep it all polished after doing all that though, to keep it looking good.

Basically thats what to do. IMO You are basically wasting your time with anything over about 600 grit if your going to use a compound on a wheel. When i polish i go to 100-180-220-400-600 wet ( sometimes ) And then the compounds, starting with a compound that has a cutting ability that will take care of any little imperfections, then onto the high shine compound. Its dirty work, but definately worth it!
