Default Door Edge Guards

Hey all I'm looking at a car at a local dealership and it happens to have those god awful stainless steel door edge guards. Has anyone removed these before and did it cause the paint to chip or scratch? Also how do you go about removing them? Are they just tapped on with a rubber malet or is there an adhesive? Thanks

Yikes. They look pretty attached to most cars but they should come off. It would probably help to heat them. If they pose a problem go to a body shop.

The only thing that does is keep your door from getting jacked when you smash it into someone elses car when opening your door. Note to self....Do not park next to someone with door guard

The ones on my old '67 Impala came right off with hardly any effort.
