Does anyone know if the shifting plate on a 98+ console can be switched from a 5-speed to a 6-speed shifting pattern? I've heard that it's just painted on there?

I do not even have one on my 98 six-speed. It must be a decal or paint.

I'm pretty sure it's paint, so a light solvent should take it off, but be careful not to discolor the pastic or sure anything too strong. After that I guess you'd just have to have a decal made to cover it.

some 3M plastic polish will take it off and leave a nice smooth glossy surface... then get a custom decal cut and lay it over there.

you cant tell...





us thirdgen guys do that all the time when we swap our 5spd transmissions to 6spds...
