painting over vinyl decals?

painting over vinyl decals? i am putting on some 30th anniversary fender stripes on my black t/a and i was wondering if i change my mind on the color later on if they could be painted and clear coated over a different color. I.E. they are blue now on my black t/a but if wanted to change them to silver, could it be done? just curious.

painting on the vinyl decals will cause them to crack or at least the paint. You might look around more and find the decals for less when you are ready to change them out

that's a good price too from afterthoughts auto. I'm sure if you asked this guy http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/vinyl/vinyl.htm he'd make some for you even cheaper.
