Default painting behind the billet

I have a chrome billet grille on my car and I have to paint behind it black.

I really dont like the idea of painting my car with spray paint, what are some other ooptions of blacking out behind there?

why do you have to paint behind it black??

if you have to, your better off getting it done at a shop, i cant imagine that little spot being expensive.

goto some car shop and see if they have a big sheet of vinyl. I'd imagine you could easily cut that to shape and just stick it on there. It should come off easily without leaving any marks too.

I cut out a piece of sheet metal, painted it flat black, had it for 5 years, works great. It's held on by the same screws as the grille. When it gets beat looking I can just take it out and re-spray it.

The sheet metal idea is a decent idea. But IMO, even with sheet metal being fairly inexpensive, I'd rather just paint that back area even w/ spray paint because it wont be seen that much for one, and for two its going to get some bugs and smaller debris on it anyway so it'll be fairly easy to touch up.

Why spend say $50 on quality bodyshop paint on that area when you can spend $5 and touch it up whenever you wish?

I painted behind my billet. Not a problem like people seem to think it is. I masked off the area sanded it a bit, layed down some primer, then a few coats of flat black paint. Came out perfect no problems at all. Been that way for two years and counting. Of course, if you plan on removing the billet later maybe thats your concern for not wanting to paint. But you'd need bodywork regardless considering youd have a bunch of drill mounting holes in your fasica after you remove it.
