Default Shift boot Retainer

Here is my problem. I have a 1996 Trans am and my shift boot retainer has broken and I dont want to pay $60 for the whole shift boot assembly does anybody know if the retainer off the newer models will fit because on those you can just buy the retainer if you want from GM Part #: 10271371 and its only like $15. Anybody think it will work?

After thoughts only has the boots. AJB, you also might want to double check that number because I was given a number from everyone before as well, and I ended up with a retainer for the camaros and it will not fit our cars because it's too small. I just got lucky and bought one used. Even it was broken in one spot.
