Default How cold is too cold to wash?

P.S. Ohio weather sucks. The only state where you might need to have the A.C. and the heat on on the same day.

i wash my cars during the winter but then drive them into the garage to finish drying. My garage isnt heated tho so it can get a lil cold haha. i think the coldest i ever washed a car outside was like 27 degrees outside.

FYI, here in NJ you also need the heat in the morning and AC in the afternoon. A few weeks ago, it would be 40ish when I left for work at 6am, then over 70 around 3ish. I stop washing mine around Oct, when it basically gets too cold to get your hands wet. I give it a good final wash/wax, then park her for the winter. If it warms up and I take her out for a ride, and gets dirty, then I'll skimp and go to a hand carwash. I'm sure you know never to put an F-body through an automatic wash, the water pressure is too much for the t-tops.

when you loose feelings in your hands during the drying process, its probably too cold.

When you pull into the car wash and the soap from the soap brush is frozen to the wall and as soon as you start washing your car and come back around to the front it is just a big sheet of ice.

I washed my 94 T/A when is was freezing out last January, the damn water was frozen on the car before I could finish and the driveway was a thin layer of ice. My parents thought I was nuts, but I got all the sand and salt off so I was happy.

lol texas is another state where you have the heater and the a/c on the same day, as well as a rain jacket. if you dont like the weather now, just a wait a few minutes...it'll change. and i wash that biatch no matter what the weather is, freezing or 105 outside,....and even if it raining... my friend walked up on me while it was rainin and saw me washin it, he never lets me go with out reminding me!)

Agreed. I've never heard of any studies or anything of the sort, but I don't think the water freezing ontop of the paint is that damaging, as long as you don't go trying to scrape it off. This winter, if I have to wash my car (thank god, first year my family will have a spare car for the winter) I'll do the wash and what not, and then take it in the garage. We're investing in a propane garage heater for winter, so pull her in, turn the heater on, get it above freezing, and tada all set to dry off.

I used to go to the public car wash in the winter here in NJ, but I don't go there anymore. I will try to get a wash in tomorrow or Monday since it will be 55-63 on those days. After that, the car will probably wear the same underwear until March!
