Default Steering wheel swap.

Can it be done? I've made a post like this before. But this time I've seen something similar.

The vibe and newer pontiacs, including the new g6 actually share a similar if not the same steering wheel. So I'd like that in my car.

Any clue if that or a similar wheel is compatible? I dont really know much, I just know I dont like the wheel I got now. lol

Here is what another board member has done. So my interest once again has been sparked.

as long as the spline on the steering column is the same it should bolt on but the airbag/radio controls wiring will need to be sorted out.

ok so i gotta find out of the spline is the same.

i personally could care less of the controls worked, if that was the sacrifice that needed to be made. but my airbag is a must.

That's not the issue. I spoke to the owner of the TA you posted a pic of above. Hopefully he will chime in here as well.

The wheel in that pic is from an '04 Bonneville. Splines are not the same, but he stated the upper steering shaft, is the same. He did the swap, and bingo bango, there you go.

Steering wheel controls work, but he did not mention the air bag. This is my only question in the matter. If I have to find a upper shaft, wheel, and air bag, it's not worth my time IMO. Unless of course you can find a deal.

The Bonneville wheel on found on Ebay, was just a bare wheel with the steering controls @ $120 bucks. Air bags are big bucks, and as I stated, I'm unsure of what GM does between different models. I can get the bare parts at cost through the dealer, but the air bag is still going to be a shitload.

What car is that headunit from in the second pic?? It looks newer, therefore must be better than my stock monsoon...right? Wonder if it lights up red/orange like pontiacs.

A solution could be to re-upholster the factory wheel and make it fatter.
