Default halo headlight question

what is the halo ring in the headlights for?

Is it used as a headlight or what?

It gets lit up from the bottom with a single LED and lights up the entire ring. It is just for show. It doesn't DO anything but make a bluish light in the form of a ring appear in the headlight. It is similar to the halos/angel eyes on some BMWs. I've seen them on 5 and 3 series.

Basically, they just look cool. But there are some factory freaks that shoot laser beams like Ell Ess mentioned.

I'm considering getting a set of the Halos. Did you get them off EBay? If so, how is the quality? Ease of install? Thanks> Ben

I got mine from matrixracing...as far as sponsors go, byunspeed sells them I believe. Ebay would be a good bet as well. There are plenty on there, thats for sure.

Yeah, the install isn't all that bad if you know how. As far as quality, the bracket and stuff I would say are slightly inferior in quality to stock. The little metal thingy that the high beam bulb screws into is made of thinner metal than the stock counter piece, and no, they are NOT interchangeable...I tried. My high beam bulbs were in there kinda loose until I messed with it some till it tightend up a bit better.

Mine also fog up once in a while. At first I thought they only do it at night with cold weather, but one of them fogged up in the middle of the day with 80 degree temps. Aside from that, I love them!

If anyone needs some hints on how to install them, let me know....just PM me or Instant Message me on AIM (same name as here).

Manny

I will say that BMW's angel eyes put these to shame, BMW probably has the best looking headlight around (given that they cost around $750 for one, not a pair)

That is not a projector. That is a hunk of glass stuck in a housing to fool people. The beam pattern is terrible.

Also, what car do you want to get headlights? Check the Lighting FAQ and search around this forum for what others have done.
