Default Whats up with inflated ramair hood prices

Whats up with the inflation of a ramair hood. It almost cost double to paint it and install iton top of the price of purchase . Any one Sponser or Manufacturer that sells a ram air hood painted or not for a decent price. My best price installed painted and purchased is 2100.

Yeah I can't get a quote from a good shop to paint&install a hood for less than $800. Add the $1k price tag of the hood and it's damn expensive.

If you look under the GP section there's a post by american sports car design that is basically an on-going sale for all their F-body hoods. I just bought mine w/ the inserts for $520. I can't tell you how much it costs to be painted/installed b/c my insurance is paying for it (I hit a deer a couple weeks ago and swapped the $520 stock GM hood for the $520 fiberglass hood...nice price huh?)

OH MAN! I just got a WS9 hood off Ebay from US Exotics (Roger) for $500. And was quoted $500 for prep and paint from a local small body shop (One Guy and helper). I was gonna go that route until my Girlfriend backed into my TA and got insurance involved. So as it ends up now I am only into this deal for the price of the hood plus shipping. Also you could definitely call one of our sponsors VFN(look on the right side of page) who have arguably the best quality and lowest prices! Check one of these sources and get you a great hood for great price then talk cash deals with some smaller body shops and you will be in for max $1500 if you are patient in your search for a painter. Good luck bro.

i think your car looks great without the nostrils. keep the stock T/A hood or get a firehawk hood...

as for painting, i know a guy around indy that would paint a hood, not perfect, but pretty good for $200 or so

man you guys are getting raped if your paying $1k for the hood........... its about $600 to paint the hood and blend.... if you guys are just painting the hood then you will have problems.... just because it says the paint is the same color it isnt..... they have to blend to the fenders and bumber for the colr to match correct................
lets see VFN Sponsor to the right......................>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Someone backed into my car, so we had the insurance estimate a new hood. Well a new flat GM hood was $670. Raptor hood I wanted was about 850 shipped to my door. All the paint/blending/bumper work totaled to about $1500 but insurance cut us a check for $2400.

I paid about $850 for my hood and paint. I would shop around on paint, sounds real high if you ask me.

Just dropped my WS6 hood off at the body shop today.

GM WS6 hood from Ebay: $810.00
Paint: $379.00

Total: $1189.00 (plus $30.00 for silver Blackbird stripes)

If you've priced an actual GM hood then you know this was a good deal. I went with the GM because I've heard a lot of gripes about quality and fit with other hoods. Good luck.
