Default Does anyone have a compass/temp display rearview mirror?

I'm wanting to put a compass and temp display rear view mirror in my car and i was wondering if anyone has done this. What kind of car did you get the mirror out of? Its really hard to find one with map lights in them. How hard was it to wire up? did you have to remove the headliner to route the temp sensor wire? Here is a link to something i want, i just want to find one out of a wrecked car rather than pay this price. http://www.electronics-pluz.com/aumiwimaplic.html

I've been told that the C5 mirrors, which have this, will work in our F-bodies.

Dunno, but it's worth a shot.

Some of the truck mirrors and other GM vehicle mirrors will work in an fbody. It'll look exactly the same except there will be a temp sensor you need to mount outside of the car somewhere.

I just one ordered last week and it is on the way. From the research that i have done it does not seem to complicated to wire it up. Just make sure you don't but one with the mirror that has that cam-lock system, i think those are for imports and our has the wedge back on it.

I have one in all my cars. Mito / Gentex is the maker of the mirrio and they are on E-Bay all the time.

Lots of neat options available: Compass, Temperature, Homelink, Maplights . . .

I have one too, it's a Mito. Not too bad to install. I paid way too much for it but I like it. I have the temp and the compass with nice LED map lights. Oh yea, be sure you order the one with the map lights because they also sell them without them...

Yeah all the ones i've seen on ebay that are used don't have map lights and for our cars those are a must have. Map lights are the only way to get light to the front of our cars.

What does it take to put one of these in? I tried to get one from several salvage yards, and they all told me they won't work, and that you have to wire in a body control module to make it work. Which i know has to be BS. My car doesn't have a BCM as my car is to old. There is like 5-10 pins on the back of the mirror how do you wire those up?

If you buy a new one it comes with a wiring diag. No need to connect to the computer.

Mirror needs added wires above the ones that are there in a F-Car, is a switched power, a ground, and the sensor wires to the temp probe. There is also a lead to tie into the reverse lights to "undim" the mirrio when you go inot reverse. The map lights should tie into the stock map light wires.

Is there a part # for the Mito? One with temp, compass, and homelink?

I've seen mirrors like those at the Charlotte AutoFair last year, some dude was selling parted out late model Silverado stuff and had a cardboard box full of them for 15 bucks each. I wanted to get one and probably should of but, I didn't know how to wire the thing up.

Thank you. I appreciate it, but all you need is the mirror and some wiring experience you don't need any special control box like the morons at the auto salvage places kept telling me.
