Default M6 console mods?

I got to thinking, has anyone turned a M6 shift boot and made it look like a Ferrari? Like the strainless steel look? I just thought that would be kinda cool.

l;ike where u can see the line going 1-2-3-4? theres no boot at all just a metal piece that your shifter is perpendicular with? if im thinking right, that would look pretty cool, but id want someone to do it before me lol

wouldn't that make the shifting a little bit more difficult?

I think it would make it a little easier. 1, you can actually see where the shifter it going and 2. its cool and different. I would really love to see it actually on a car with like a ripper shifter or something like that

i think it would make shifting HARDER big because you have such a small grove to get your shifter into and think about it when you put your shifter in gear there is still some play side to side. mine shakes when i drive...metal to metal would be annoying(sp). imo

i love the look tho

i don't think my shifter moves far enough side to side to make use of one of those.

you would also have to have a fairly small diameter shifter stick, if its thick like the UMI short stick that I have, the guides would have to be kind of wide. Im sure this would still be do-able but just something else to think about

I don't think it's a bad idea at all.. it could look pretty cool. BUT... there's no reason to need to see where your shifter is going, you shouldn't be looking at your shifter while you're driving

I love the idea, I've thought about this in the past but I don't have the tools to make it.
Biggest problem is getting a new stick, it just looks bad with our stock ones.

i had thought about this before also. the first step would be making a cardboard template and bolting it in. one problem is, how are you going to seal off the underside of teh center console and the top? the leather boot takes care of that right now, but what would u do with this idea?

ive thought about this since i owned my fiero cause those kits were all over the place.i always thought id be nice in my ta as well but as far as making one i think youd have to refab a whole new upper m6 console(ls1 style)you know, the part thast hold the shift boot and unbolts from inside.you could replicate it in fiberglass then bondo in what youd want the new peice to be like.then replicate that prototype and finish it.But i think itd look outa place unless you did it in brushed aluminum then purchasedf a brushed aluminum accent kit for the dash or something similar. It could deffinately be done though thats for sure.

i think that would be tough to shift because the you'd have a dual-gated shifter. if there were no internal gates, then sure, but i'd like to see someone powershift that w/o bending or breaking it (acrylic)....if it's anything other than cosmetic.
