Default Rear Quarter panel welding

Anybody know about how much it would cost to get a new rear quarter panel welded in on a old trans am? they would have to cut the old one out, take the back windsheild out take back bumper off etc. and weld in a new one put everything back on etc. Do you think it would cost more than a $1000.00 ?

If it's done right, I'd say more than a 1000

lol, we have done it to a T/A in my shop, I would not suggest this as an at home "do it yourself" task.......just a heads up bud

The body shop I worked at, I watched them put quarters in Hondas, BMWs, etc. Defenitly an extremely time consuming job.

It will take many hours to get the seams perfectly smooth and do the rest of the work. Most shops charge atleast $75 an hour so say over 10 hours to almost everything, right there alone you are at $750.

well i found an old hot rodder that will do it for extremely cheap (300 for the whole thing or 100 to cut out the damaged area and put that section of the new panel in) but im am sketchy doing that.

I would be sketchy too, that is a big job, and if it isnt done right, it will show thru the paint in a big run. If you go that route and that happens you have to have it done all over again. I would save up and have it done professionally.

On my '69, I was quoted $500 to weld in/primer the new panel. They do alot of custom bodywork as well as regular bodywork. They're probably the best that I've heard of in my area.

the quarter panel on my car was replaced before I bought it. Clear car fax and everything but I can tell it was replaced. The panel wasn't aligned correctly and it makes the tail light look like it's about to fall off and the gap isn't right. When I repaint the car I'm going to have the panel cut out and have everything fixed up correctly. Yeah its going to be expensive but if you care about detail then I think it's well worth it. Trying to find a cheap way out is just asking for trouble
