Default Polished Calipers

My friend and I are wanting to polish our brake calipers, which will give it that shiny, chrome look. Have any of you done this or seen it done?

Looks great. Did you use a drimmel tool or a dye grinder (not sure on spelling of either of those)? And also, did you clear coat them?

I'm going to start on "Project Brakes" when the weather is Ok for a T-shirt.

I don't know if I should do the whole caliper or just the flat part that you'll see through the wheel. I'll do the flat part and some of the wrap-around, but I don't think it's worth doing the whole freakin' thing that nobody can see unless the rim is off. Maybe I'm getting lazy.

Ha! I knew you'd slip up sooner or later!

My polishing excursion has slowed to nearly nothing because its so COLD!! But when it gets warm again, i may be starting on that project as well.

You're obviously not new around here, so you should know "Really Bad Reposts" happen about every 10 minutes in the forum. Halos? "Tripple" Gauge Pods? Billet Grille? Berger Panel? Come on now.

Okay, so I know how to polish the calipers. But do you think that I should clear coat them?

Thanks for the complements! I used the above link and went to town. It's not too bad, just time consuming. I did use a dremel with 80 grit at first to remove all the bumps and stuff. then used a sanding block to about 300 grit. I didn't use higher grit cause I got impatient. I polished with my dremel and a little mothers polish. came out ok. My advise is to be patient. Let us know how it turns out man! Oh and I didn't clear them...yet.

Explain to me how you expected him to know that if he joined in 06? A simple search comment would have been enough

Thanks Reza. I wasn't going to say anything to him, but it was kind of a dick thing to say. If people didn't re-post things on here everyday, no one would have anything to talk about. You would just come on and search everything and leave. Not trying to be rude...but you gotta cut some people some slack.

The polishing is on for Sat. I'll post some pics and let you know how they turn out.

how much time did you guys spend on each caliper?

did you polish the bracket also, or should that just be painted? I'm down on co-op and only make it home every 3 weeks or so, i'm thinking about taking off all my brakes and bringing them back with me so i have something to do after work lol

my roomate will think i'm nuts

We ended up not being able to polish them yesterday. It freaking ended up snowing and the roads got all icy. So hopefully I can polish them next Sat.

I think that you can polish the bracket, but it would suck to do.

You can't polish the bracket, it wil rust. You'll need to paint/anodize/chrome the bracket.

When I do mine I probably won't clear it. Just maintain it every two months.
