Default C5 Z06 Antenna on a Z28?

I read on here about some guys putting a Z06 Anteanna on a Camaro, is that a direct screw in kind of deal or are there any modifications needed for fit/looks?

I did a search on it, but all I found were pictures of Bit Vipers short antenna mod, and that thing didn't look like the Z06 antennas I found online.

Can someone fill me in?

Currently I have a "cellular" style antenna which you can get from any auto parts store, and it's starting to look a tad too gay to me. And no, I don't want to get a power antenna, I really don't need the antenna since I have satellite radio in the car, it's purely a looks thing. I want this to be just a screw on affair, and don't want to get rid of the antenna altogether.

Thanks!

Since you don't need the antenna, you could leave it off and cover the screw hole.

Question is with what....I would rather have an antenna there, for completeness sake I suppose.

I saw the 8" Z06 antenna on one of the automotive websites, but I want to see if I can't find the part number and get it somewhere local.

Just buy a billet shorty antenna. I have one from Billet Specialties on my car. You can buy the shorty antennas at like Auto Zone and Pep Boys too I believe. I ordered mine direct from BS. You can find all kinds of shorty antennas on ebay too. You could also remove the ball from your stock one, cut it to the height you want and epoxy it back on. I've heard of several guys doing that.

yes the reason its called the z06 Anteanna is cause the stocl z06 Anteanna makes the car look like a RC car so they cam out with a shorter one and called it the z06 Anteanna. and yes it will work and look good

just take a stock one, use some cutters and cut it to 8", by one of those little rubber caps and your done. I didn't do mine myself, but i got ripped from eBay and discovered thats what was done. Reception is still fine.

Yeah, get the power antenna. Just don't hook it up to the power source. It's an easy change, especially if you don't want it to go up. I swapped my stocker out for a power antenna, and just leave it down all the time. I don't listen to the radio anyways, a CD Changer and XM radio are enough for me.

pull the little ball of the tip of your stock antenna with a pair of pliers, cut the antenna to desired length with a dremil too and then put the little ball back on. Its what i did and it looks a lot better and reception is still fine

Thats exactly how I've been making shorty antennas for all my friends. Might want to grab some black spray paint if you want it to look really good.

I've got the 8" ZO6 antenna on my SS.

GM is wayyy too cheap to change antenna bases on any of their cars, man.
