Door opened and my paint cracked on an 02!

Door opened and my paint cracked on an 02! Today I was getting out of my car and I swung the door open. It went all the way to the last notch, I heard a bit of a cracking but I didn't think anything of it for some reason. I went back today and saw a bit of a shadow on the door. I looked closer, there's a crack in the paint on the left driver side at what looks like the obvious stress point.
Has this happend to anyone else? Doesn't GM warranty paint against cracking for a period of time? I think this is BS that opening my door would hurt my paint. My car is a 2002, not a 1982.
