Default Going to sand the bird off

Ok I am going to wetsand the bird off the center panel of my tail lights. What grit sand paper should I start with? I'm pretty sure i read somewhere to end with 2000. I already got a couple sheets of 2000 and some real good plastic polish. Just wondering what grit to start with...

I would use an emery cloth also. It is like a combo of 1500 and 1800.

All I did was take the bird off with finger nail polish remover and then wet sand with 2000 grit

I used the finger nail polish remover to get the bird off, then went to 1500 grit wetsand, then 2000 grit wetsand, then mothers plastic polish with orbital buffer
