Default Waxing over vinyl decals

I know there was a thread on this a while back but I couldn't locate it. I just put my Blackbird stripes on and I'm about to wax it. Will wax hurt the decals or protect them?

When I had hockey sticks I would wax them too. I felt it would help preserve the vinyl decal and not let it fade. Mine were red though and not a dark flat color.

Yeah, Ive always waxed over mine, figured it would help from fading and protection agianst any contaniments. You should be fine waxing over them

Waxing over vinyl or any other type of decal wont hurt it, it wil actually seal it like said above. The only thing that sucks about waxing over them is the wax build up you get along the edges of the decal, but that isnt a big deal.

Yeah, that's the only problem I have is the build up on the sides. I heard that some have clearcoated over the vinyl which takes that edge away, but not sure if that's a good thing or not.

The only problem with clear coating over the vinyl or any sticker is if it starts to lift up, so will the clear.

Just be carefull if you're using an orbital or DA buffer over the vinyl. Sometimes even on a low setting you might lift the decal a bit in the corners. Thats the only problem I can see waxing over decals.
