Default do i have to sand it down completely?

im doing my berger mod and i was wondering if i had to completely sand off the orginal paint or did i just have to take off the shine?

I would take off all the clear and sand the original paint to a smooth finish. You are going to want to use the old paint as a primer so the new paint has something to stick to.

nono no. just scuff it completely with some 320 grit or a 3M scotch-brite pad. thats all thats used on a $3k paint job, should be good enough for a tail panel
