California Duster.....good or bad?
Hey guys, just like the title says.....is the california car duster good or bad? Bad meaning, scratch paint or leave marks. I'm thinking about getting one for my '03 black Z06. It looks really good, and I'd probably use it most often after the car has been recently washed or waxed. I wouldn't be driving around for several weeks, letting it accumulate dirt, then attempt to dust it off. I believe that would leave scratches. Anyone have experience with the california duster? How (which situations) do you use it, and do you recommend having one. Thanks.

I've got one, and don't know what I ever did without one They work better the dirtier they get. When they're brand new, they might leave a little wax streak here or there, but that's only the first couple of times you use it. As long as you're not dusting off your Vette right after driving it, or dusting it off in the sun you should be fine.
Mine rides around in the back of my car, so it's always on standby

It will be the best $13 you ever spend! I use it regularly on my black ws6, leaves no marks or anything. Gets the dust off easy, even when its been on there for a few days. Just so happens I do live in dusty CA.

Just never use it on a warm car or it may leave nasty wax streaks all over your car. I bought one a few years ago and stopped using it right away because it left streaks then someone here told me why. I was going out for drives in the hot sun and then trying to use the california duster. After I learned not to use it on a hot car it works great!

I've been using the duster for years on my black S10 Xtreme and now on my black SS. Only when new have I ever had a few wax streaks but nothing a little detail spray wouldn't fix. Temperature never has anything to do with anything for me. I dust it off on 80 degree days after it's been in the sun with no issues. Just don't push down on it and you won't have any problems.

The duster itself is the same..just the handle is different. My first one was a plastic handle and my new one is wood. The only reason I got wood was because they had a deal at a show I was at. Got the big duster and the little dash duster together for like $28 or something.

LS1obsession, wiping off that much junk doesn't leave any fine scratches?
I find that hard to believe, as even my fingers lightly feeling the finish (and I mean light) have left small lines in the clearcoat...

Guess that's a drawback to a black car. Looks great after though.
