Question Clear Coat HELP????

Im in the process of painting my calipers with Duplicolor Engine paint. I have applied the Grey Engine Primer and then the Gloss black paint. I waited about 20min then applyed the clear and it almost ate throught the black and exposed the grey primer and looked aweful. So i re-sprayed the black and waited about 6 days for the black paint to cure and then tryed to spray the clear yet again and it did the same thing???? Just wondering if there is anything I am doing wrong and why this is happening. Any suggestions? Thanks Alot

Don't clear them. I didn't clear my calipers and they look fine. I think you are supposed to wait at least 30 minutes to apply the clear, check the can.

the reason i was going to put it on is to cover up the caliper stickers and i thought it would make them last longer. I didn't apply but a light coat and then it exsposes the primer. But i let it dry overnight and it seems to go away. But it was a shock and i just dont want to apply it on the shown surfaces and have it screw up so i have to re-do everything.

if you put to much paint on sometimes it can trap solvents and make paint do weird stuff. i know it sucks but you might want to take the paint off and start over, and use light coats, don't try to hammer all the paint on at once. good luck.
