Default VHT Nite-Shades gone wrong...

I VHT'd my corners and 3rd brake light.

The two rear corners turned out great.

The front orange ones and the third brake light looked almost flat black...

I wetsanded as much of the tint off as I could and am going to try again. Suggesttions for making them come out better?

You need to clear coat them.

Sounds easy enough...

I actually sort of looked for some the other day while I was at the auto parts store. The only kind of clear they had also was a lacquer thinner. The guy there said it might be harmful to the plastic and advised me not to get it.

Any suggestions on where and what kind of clear to get?

If you want to strip the nightshades off you can try Brake fluid. I have used it before to remove paint from a lexan R/C car body. I left the body in the brake fluid a little to long and got a haze but if you are removing the nightshades from the lights you could buff the plastic back because it is not as agressive as laquer thinner. I used laquer thinner on my third brake light because i was so pissed i did not care. It removed layers of plastic but i was able to wet sand it smooth. Try the brake fluid on one if you think they are to dark and want lighter and see how it goes. I bought a cheap bottle from advance and just poured it into a container and left the part in over night. Of course cleaning it very well before paint is a must.
