The official !HS mod thread - Camaros only
This is the quick and dirty version of the !HS (Hot seat) mod, rewritten as requested for sticky use.
Camaros are lacking any A/C vent that can be aimed down far enough to cool the seat region. From the factory the driver's side vent aims just straight out, maybe a tad down before hitting the stop. Modding the driver's side A/C vent is very easy to do, and allows the vent to be aimed well down to allow cooling of more areas of choice. Hereby politically correctly named the !HS mod.
The problem:
As you can see, the driver’s side vent tilts only just barely horizontal, not down at all.
The details:
The driver’s side vent panel may be easily removed, and the vent is easily snapped out of the housing by pushing forward from the back, it has plastic interlocks on both sides. After it is removed you will see the stopper tab.
The fix:
Here we see that the tab has been removed by a dremel tool. You could also cut it off, I suppose, but it does need to be removed to very near flush or the vent will get hung up. Friction to hold vent position is provided by two foam pads, not this tab. So if the vent is "floppy" fix those while you are in here.
The happy ending:
Now we see that upon replacement, the driver’s side vent may now be aimed well down, allowing for proper air routing whereever you may desire.
The original thread included "world's greatest" in the title, if by chance you are interested in finding the original post.
