Default ? about Mr. Clean autodry filter

So the filter says to replace when it turns brown. I'm sitting here looking at a brand new never used filter and the little window is already brown...wtf? Also I've used my current filter about 5 times and it seems like the color hasn't changed. Can someone enlighten me here.

Mine did the same thing, it never changed to brown. I dont use mine anymore, but I would change mine after about 7 washes.

You must have pretty clean water if it hasn't changed colors after 5 washes. Mine started turining brown after the 2nd use. The initial filter they give you is only good for like 3 or 4 uses anyways I believe. The replacement filter lasts a bit longer. I thought it was funny they say it would turn brown when it needs replacing and it's already light brown.

I had the 10 wash filter that came w/ it initially. It looks maybe a little browner than the brand new one I bought but it's hard to tell. They should make it turn yellow or something instead of one shade of brown to another.

there's a little window on the side that you can see when it's in the washer. You shouldn't have to take any plastic off.

works good, but mine turns brown after 1 long wash lol. would save more money just getting a drinking water filter for a 100 bucks or so.
