door sag
My driver's side door sags pretty good, and requires a strong pull to close.
With the door open I can lift up and down on the end of it.
I took it to a body shop today, and they said the fiberglass by the lower hinge was broken, and I'd need a whole new door.
Is that possible? I didn't even realize the doors were fiberglass.
If I do need to replace the door, how much should that cost?
thanks.

Its very possible, I have seen it several times. If the wind catches the door it can break it at the hinge and sometimes the skin sepperates from the shell.
The doors are made from SMC "sheet moulding compound" its simmilar to fiberglass but mutch better. The door does have a metal bracing inside the door but if flexed hard enough the SMC will crack and the bracing could sepperate from the shell causing the door to lose its structural integrity and sag. I have never repaired a door that was damaged like this, if it was repaired I wouldnt expect it to last. There is to mutch stress in that erea for a repair to live. I would keep my eye out or put the word out there for a deal on another door.

thanks for the advice guys.
I don't mean to sound like a slacker... but I might not do anything about this. This car has over 190,000 miles on it, and I don't think the door will fall off... so I might just leave it be.
