I concur, I decided to paint my chrome billet black as well. What did you use to do it?
I used black spray paint and clearcoat. It lasted for a while but now rocks are starting to chip it pretty bad. Not really a problem, Ill just have to get out there with some touch up paint pretty soon.

All I did was wash the grill with a scotch pad toget all the old crap off of it. Then I hit it with a clear adhesion promoter and let it dry for 20 minutes. Then I hit it with some duplicolor gloss black from oriely. Toped it off with a few coats of clear. Key is to do light thin coats and let them dry 10-25 minutes in between. If and when it starts to wear out, I will just hit it with a few coats of black and clear again, I have plenty left from the can.

I prefer the subtle, little things over flashy, over the top items.

Looks a ton better painted black.. As for those clear corners have you tried drilling some small holes on the bottom of the lenses?...once you do that no more fogged up clear corners!
