Default Dirty car, but rain tomorrow. Wash or no?

Well, I'm just wondering what you think about this. Is it better for the paint to stay dirty for a week, with rain mixed days, or wash the car every other day?

I'm guessing the less washes, the better? Like the saying, "Less is more"?

Funny. I was washing my car yesterday and this guy says your paint is going to fall off. (i know this guy he's cool)

I say matter of fact if i dont it will fall off. Fact it increases the value of the car. The dirt will build up and destroy the paint.

I say do a good quick wash. I keep doing it and it would rain just a few hours later. I wash one time a week as weather permits.

if you keep a good wax job on all you really have to do after a rain is rinse it off and dry it. it should stay looking good till you really wash it again.

Well, I usuall wash it once a week. I hate driving around in a dirty car, but damn it's rained almost everyday this week. My poor car has been outside for the last week due to me working on my winter beater.

There will be more of a build up of contaminants from not washing your car compared to if you did, which will cause rust, but since since most of the body panels are not metal then we don't have to really worry about rust. Even washing doesn't remove all contaminants, which is why it's a good idea to use a clay bar. IMO, I don't think your car being dirty for a week is something to worry about, and washing it every other day isn't going to harm the paint.

i wash my black z06 pretty much once or twice a week. dont let it get real dirty, it will **** up the paint. alot of dust gets on mine and it actually scratches it if I leave it on for awhile. I do a wash procedure and then I do a quick detail spray with Zaino Gloss Finish!

A clean car = a good return for you money if you sell in the long run....and A dirty car = bad paint after a while, less money in your pocket.... that is if you ever sell, however! depending on the towels and or method of drying, washing isnt necessarily good. Crapy towels = more scratches and the more you wash ='s worse paint, but u being an f-body fan knows how to take car of your car and that you use only good towels and an absorber, right?

I have to disagree. If you just "rinse", you are not removing all of the dirt. When you dry your car with dirt left on the paint, no matter how fine the particles left over from just rinsing, you put scratches which are definitely not an option.

Wash your car religeously and it will pay off in the long run.

Well thanks for the replies everyone. I lost track of time today tearing my n2o out, so that means I'll probably wash it after the weekend. I always thought the more you wash it, the more scratches are made.

I use microfiber wash mit and towels to dry my car. Different areas use a different towel.

Agreed.

That's why you have these before polishing and waxing...a good wash!

My '02 get washed once every two months. Garage magnet.

My LT1 beater gets washed once every 2 weeks from an automated deal. I like think of my Formula to be a "sleeper-beater."

I've got too much going on to worry about a 12 year old driver.
