Default type of polish?

ive decided that this weekend im going to buff my car with my buffer. unfortunately i dont have a porter cable nor do i have the money at the moment to buy one. what i do have is a ryobi orbital 10''. it came with 2 pads, a terry cloth applicator pad, and a synthetic buffer pad. my paint is in really condition already but i dont settle for really good so id figure id give this buffer a try and then get a porter cable in a few months and do it with that. my question is this, i need to get some polish asap and dont have the time to order the good stuff on the internet so... what is some good polish i could pick up at the local o'reilly/autozone? i have some minor swirl marks and that kind of stuff in the paint. i was thinking of getting the meguiars #80 or possibly the 3 step. also, what should i use buffing... ie what should i seal it with? any suggestions? thanks!!!

also wanted to add that i do have zaino z2, z5, and zfx. i know zaino is more for shine than to remove swirls etc. so i probably wont use zaino at all unless its recommended to put on after i use whatever product i get to remove the swirls with my orbital buffer!

Zaino worked great for taking out the swirls etc. on our 1989 Camaro. The more Z5 you use, the less swirls. Coulndn't be happier

Oh hell yeah. Love those old IROC's . I used to want one when I just got out of highschool. It was hard to find one in good condition though, plus I didn't have any money.

I've not used it personally, but a few of the other board members I trust have used Meguiar's Scratch-X with great success to remove scratches and swirl marks. The product is meant to be used by hand, and I've seen it at local Pep Boys, Autozone, and O'Reillys stores.

Here's the thread I was thinking of. Look at Avengeance's posts about Scratch-X.

scratch -x might be better used by hand as well.

if you can find it locally, megs # 83, 80 or even 9 should be ok.
heaviest - lightest cutting ability

before my PC and other products, i used #9 and nxt liquid wax and the cars i used that combo on came out great
