Default Manual windows how-to?

Ok i have been thinking lately since my passenger side window motor is starting to fail, is it possible to change it over to a manual crank window and manual locks? Thereby eliminating the issue of the crap motor all together and saving a bit of weight at the same time.

Were manual windows/locks even an option from the factory?

I could be wrong, but I remember people discussing this a whiiiile back, and it turns out that he manual setup was actually HEAVIER once all the parts/brackets were in place.

Again, this was a while ago so I could be wrong...

i was one of the people that made a topic asking about that a long while back becuase i'd rather crank my own windows than depend on a motor that will crap out on me at theworst possible time, i've yet to get an answer to my question.

The weight will not change at all they are both the same. Also your not gonna gain much because the regulater can still go out on manual windows. My opinion it would be a waste of time and make your car worth less..

I have never had to change my power windows with 60k miles on it. But I have changed several power window motors and it takes me about 30 to 45 min.

the replacement motors have a lifetime warranty if i remember right. the SS has manual everything and its nice to not have to worry about it, but it sure is nice to be able to just press a button to use the windows

It took me 2 hours the first time (on my wife's car). It would probably take less than an hour if I had to do the same motor again because I've already drilled out the rivets. Even on a motor with the rivets still in place I could probably do it in an hour or so. It's not hard at all.
