Default Halo and HID question

Okay, i havent been paying attention to the halos and HIDs until i just burnt out a silverstar. So...does the center light in the Halo just do the halo??? or does it shine like a third headlight AND do the halo thing? Because to me it looks like three actual bulbs, and then a halo. If its just a halo then no way.

HIDs...do they come with the entire headlight assembly too or is it just two bulbs and equipment.

Mainly i ask bc my stock headlights look like s#!t. Yellow... beyond repair, lol. And plus I've burnt a lowbeam out.
Thanks!

HIDs do not include housings usually. and halo's the middle is just an LED ring that lights up

The HID's are basically just replacement bulbs that go in place of the stockers, but they come with a little box which contains the ballast and which you just velcro to the fender. Check some of the HID Headlight sponsors on the board. HID King is one of them I think?

Halos just use the stock bulbs, the Halo itself is just a LED. Once you turn your headlights on, you won't even see the Halo light up since the the headlights are way brighter. The "third bulb" behind the halo is really nothing, the light from the low beam shines through it. If anything, Halo headlights put out a bit less light due to the obstruction caused by the line that defines the Halo section. Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but don't expect improved lighting out of them.

If the low beam shares the halo hole then wouldnt it be brighter? I know that in spot lights the bulbs are a lot of the time the same, just the mirror part is bigger. For instance, theres a 2 million candle spotlight that uses an H1 bulb, and a 7 million candle deal that uses an H1 bulb too, one just has a huge reflector. Wouldnt this be the same concept for the halos?

not really.. all the halo headlight assembly is - 2 light housings: 1 for brights (the inside housing); 1 for lows (outside housings). the headlight faceplate/cover is just marked off in 3 different sections, with the middle section being empty, used only for the halo ring. theres no "bigger" reflector or anything in the halo section - its just...the same as the low-beam section (to my knowledge, at least). thats why the beam doesnt get brighter - there's nothin to intensify it.

I disagree about the halos being less bright I have the black halo lights and they are WAY brighter then the stock hands down and look very sharp on my black car IMO. ~Guy

If you want to get technical the halos will shine less light because of the obstruction in the middle of the low beams. Will you be able to tell the less light? Probably not.

HID's will just replace the stock bulbs unless you want to get into retrofitting and such.

That makes absolutely no friggin sense... How in the heck is a stock headlight LESS bright than a STOCK HEADLIGHT WITH A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN FRONT OF IT WITH A RING MOUNTED TO IT ?!?!

Are you sure you aren't talking about PROJECTOR Halos as opposed to the normal Halos?

I think he's comparing hazed/yellowed stock housings to brand new crystal clear housings.... ya know... your typical apples to oranges comparison when we are talking about something else (obstruction vs. no obstruction).

I do and I love them both. It's nice being able to drive around with the fog lights and halo's on but when it get's dark there's nothing like the HID's.

Thanks. I'm not sure how I feel about those. Maybe if everyone was having amazing luck with getting the beams lined up... They're sweet and border line cheezy all at the same time...?...
