97-2002 Gauges Same On V8 Camaros

Default 97-2002 Gauges Same On V8 Camaros

Are 97 Z28 Gauges The Same As 98,99,00,01, And 02? Im Pretty Sure They Do But Im Not Certain..thanks For All The Help

I believe they are.. They have the same 97's have the same dash as the 98+s..

The 97/98 used analog signals directly from sensors where the 99+ received the signals (Digital) from the ECU. I don't know how or if this affects the electronics in the gauges, but the physical sizes and dimensions are the same between 97-02.

As far as sensors go, the ECU sends the coolant temp guage a dummy signal on the 99+ cars.

Don't plug a 1998 cluster into any other year or vice versa... The result is smoke...

The 97 cluster is a one off as well as it'll only work for LT1 cars. I've tried plugging a 98 firebird cluster into my car with a 97 dash and it would work but the gas gauge and temp gauge didn't work.

Its not a dummy signal, it still gets it from the temp sensor. However on 99+ cars the temp change for the needle to move is much bigger than on 98. Basically the 99+ guage will tell you if your car is over heating or not.

so if its staying in the middle mostly when driving and no where past the middle thats a good thing right??

That is correct . It's not accurate as it is always in the middle even when the temp varies some. Overheating will still be signalled by a swift swept to the right.
