Default paint for valve covers?

im smoothing out my valve covers and goin to paint them silver with red in the stripes. what primer and paint can i use for painting them? i was goin to use regular spraypaint but i was thinking maybe i should use high temp paint on them cause they are directly exposed to oil temps(230*?). thanks. and im goin to do a full writeup when im finished for all yall with relocated coils.

Forget primer.

Use "high heat" in whatever color you want, finishing in "high heat clear" on top... put lots of clear (without running) 'til it's milky, it'll dry glass smooth and clear.

A pic of mine 7 months after painting (gloss was the key)... before I went "polished."

well i wanted to use primer to smooth out some roughness that will take a ton of sanding to remove. ill just put many layers if i have to i guess.

How critical is the car show?

When you put several thin layers of color under layers of clear it looks pretty damned smooth. Trust me. ~Joshua

its a DD that stays somewhat dirty and i just do my best to keep clean and do some bling mods here and there. i just wanted to try hidin some things with a high build primer, but i guess ill just have to sand them that much more.

I have always wondered how much powder coating costs.
