Default Just Got My McEwen Silver Gauges!

I will get pics of them shortly.. I am on my way to my moms house so taht i can pull my bezel out of the Trans Am and intall some decals on the overlays and put in the new LEDs that i bought. But first I have some questions

1) When you put the decals on, can you take the RPM and Speedo needles and turn them so that the needles are pointed straight up (6 O'clock) to get the overlays over them?

that is it. be back soon with pics.

well i am back. and god damn it i took my fiances Mustang GT to my moms house. Coulda swore i put my Trans Am keys in my pocket. Get there, no ******* keys.

Well, my MTI lid will arrive tomorrow, so i will put the lid on then take the gauge cluster out.

So again the question arrises, how do you get the gauge cluster out? is it necessary to pull the bottom panel off where the truck switch is located? Or can it all be done up top?

OHHH, so you guys want pics of jsut the gauges?? Or pics of them installed????

All you need to do is tilt the steering wheel all the way down, unscrew the steering wheel tilt lever out, unbolt the dash bezel and then unbolt the cluster.

Thought it was that easy..

The dash bezel has 2 screws? do i need to unplug the harness for the fogs?

The cluster should have 6 screws right?

Then how do you pull the clear plastic piece off the black shroud?

Will i need a TORX at all?

dash bezel thing only has 2 screws. At the top. It may be a little tricky pullin it over the steering wheel but it has some flex to it.

Harness for the fogs? lol no you don't need to uplug those.

Cluster has either 4 7mm bolts. They're very visible.

The plastic 'cover' is attached to the cluster with slide clips. Using a flathead screwdriver, depress the clips and slide the plastic piece off of the cluster. There are two on top and four on the bottom.

Since you got a T/A, you could just pull the entire piece off & unplug the fogs. Then you might have more room to work. It comes off fairly easy & clips right back on. I have removed mine several times.

ok i will get pics of it tonight. And man what a PITA to get the black shroud off. i had no idea thta you had to pull the knee panle off to un hook the fog light i know now.. I ended up take that little balck piece thta cover the fog light swith off.. Yea tht was wrong. Then i had to super glue it back on.., but anyways everyhting is out..

Question......... The needles are all moving around, when i get the plastic cover back on, and hook the bezel back up in the pod where it has the power Will all the needles be calbriated and run correclty? I am not remocing the needles..

Thanks

If you or anyone on this site would use the search function you'd have your questions answered. To remove the bezel you just yank on it and then unplug the fog light switch. The Bird is different than a Camaro. Also you can move the needles and they'll go back to where they need to be once you start the car.

Once you plug the dash back in the needles will bounce at the end and go back to where they should be.

Ok here are the pics of the McEwen Silver Face Gauges..

Here is the 5 LED Super Red Refractor lights. They are a non sponsor so PM me for detail and pricing if intrested. To get the light in, since the LED is a square with 4 lights on each corner, and where the bulb seats in a circle. I had to shave the inside diameter on the bezel a tad to get the LED lights to fit. I used a potato peeler to shave it

Here the bottom 2 gauges are actually attached and to the bezel. The RPM and Speedo are not. i am waitng on some deacal to put on those before i stick them on

I think i may have a problem with the RPM and Speedo overlay. if you look, again they are not pressed down and they are lined PERFECTLY. in the pic, you can see where the gauges fall short of the stock overlay. I have no idea what to do now?? Any ideas? if you adjust either side they will be off

You sure can see that those speedo increments don't line up at all, they're only hitting about half the mark. As far as the overlay not covering all of the stock gauge clusterm i believe the bezel will cover that area. At least i hope the bezel covers it for your sake. I'd never buy MacEwens again and thats just one of the reasons why.
