Default Making grills for scoops.

I have a LT1 stinger hood, and on the spot where there would normally be a grill, there is nothing.. it's just flat fiberglass.. I was thinking about dremeling it like 1/4 cm down, and then sliding a little grill type looking thing there. What do you think would be a good customizable metal to use for this?

Cause the scoop is too far up, and has no "tunnels" to bring the air to the intake, so it would be more like a water funnel to my engine. I am considering doing something of that nature though.
