Exclamation Removal of interior panels (rear)?????

What's the trick to removing those hooks that hold in the plastic interior panels that cover the rear sail panel/B-pillar area? Do those hooks even come out? Or do you just loosen them and wiggle the panel out somehow? It seems like the center peice of the hook pulls out, but still I can't get the panel off.

I don't want to break anything during removal, but I can't seem to get the hooks out gently. What am I missing here?

Thanks.

The center piece presses in to lock it in place. Need to work it out first.

So the center piece actually comes completely out of the hook then? I've gotten it loose, but didn't actually try to pull it all the way out. I wasn't aware that the center was a separate independant piece??

Thanks.

you need to push the outer piece against the panel and try and work the middle piece out with a flathead. then pliars. then channel locks. those things blow

So then the goal is in fact to actually completely remove the center piece from the outer hook? I just want to be sure not to break it....

Thanks.

you are correct, it totally comes off of the outer piece.

if you feel like you broke something, you're only half-way there.

EDIT- i feel wierd giving advice to a guy with 9xxx posts. shouldnt i be groveling or something?

LOL.... sometimes we all need a little help.... even senior guys like me. Funny thing is, all these years I've owned/worked on 4th gens, I've never had to remove these rear panels. I've taken 3rd gen interiors apart before, but never any of my 4th gens.

Thanks again.
