Default Close-up manta stripe shots please.

I'm fixin' to get into another F-body, an SS this time. I've decided to go with one that has a few of the engine mods that I want (instead of starting over from scratch) so I can focus on some aperance stuff. The first thing I am going to do is get a manta stripe no matter what color the SS.

The stripe is going to be painted on (because my best friend is one the best paint and body guys in this part of the state) and I am thinking about adding some lettering in the stripe (right along the body line where the hood scoop starts to raise up off the hood) . I was thinking something along the lines of "5.7 LS1", "346 C.I. LS1" , or maybe the horsepower numbers if the car has been dynoed.

What do you guys think? I would love to see any pics you have, any color...with or without lettering.

All input and suggestions are appreciated!

I say go with the manta but do not get lettering painted in the stripe if you go with HP numbers use a decal esp if you change your HP.

I would NOT do HP numbers since they change... I do think it would be very cool to put 346 (like how the first gens had 302 etc...).

I would have your buddy paint them pinstripped though... Example:

Pewter car...

Gloss black manta...

GUNMETAL GREY 346... OUTLINED with a chrome like color...

ALL UNDER the clear coat

Hmmm...The reason I ask is because I have seen a pewter SS that looks VERY similair to yours here in town lately, and I wondered if it might be you.

I'm guessing you buddy from here drives a '96 SS. I'm sure I've met him before, what color is his car?

Yeah, I've noticed that also...Since I've been searching for a new F-body, I've noticed that a fair amount of Pewter cars have the manta strip. The manta stripe looks good on any color SS, but I've noticed that it makes the Pewter color cars look COMPLETELY different (and much better). I've never liked Pewter really until I've started looking at new cars...but the manta stripe would be my first upgrade on a Pewter SS.

Every car posted so far looks amazing fellas! Thanks for the input!

Chris has a red 96 SS. He is going to chime in on this thread soon.

You possibly have seen my Camaro around Enid before, the original owner was from Enid IIRC. Chris had seen my car before I bought it. It looks 180 degrees improved now compared to what it used to be though. It had some of the worst wheels quite possibly ever on an fbody by the original owner.

I thought so...I talked to you once awhile back in the parking lot there on Broadway! I had a Red Z/28 with black hardtop.

Is the F-body scene any better over in Stillwater?

As you might have notieced from my sig, there is one less F-body roaming the streets of Enid

Not my fault though, and the guys insurance is going to pay well. I've got my eye on a nice cam/bolt-on black SS. If I end up getting it, I'm going to add a red manta stripe right away.
