How do wash car and not get water spots? in my area i have horrible water. Everytime i wash my car i always get water spots no matter how fast i dry it. I tried mr.clean auto dry spot free but that was junk. Some one at one of the cars shows told me to get a water softner for my house to get rid of the hard water. Has anyone tried it? they are kind of expensive. The guy told me he got the water softner from Http://www.apswater.com/shopaff.asp?affid=15. Let me know what you think i might stop by there just because it is local.

If you have a really nice wax job on the car, a leaf blower will push the water right off with no spots! And if you have a really nice wax job you can just use water to wash your car, or water with very little soap. Then the wax will last longer too.

I use the 3 step with the Gold being the last step. That helped alot in getting rid of water spots. The water now just flys off the car.

Are you washing your car in the sun? If you wash in a shaded or cool area, you will have all the time in the world to dry it before you get water spots because the surface of your car will not be hot and evaporate the water. Also, what are you using to dry? I recommend the Absorber and a water blade for the windows, then go over a last time with a microfiber towel. To finish it all off, get some mothers spray wax and do a quick once over for a nice shine. After all this my black TA looks perfect and if it works on black it will work on anything.

They do make a special hose nozzel that filters the deposits and minerals out of the water which does leave water spots. I get water spots on my Black TA, i just spray it down with a spray on wax and wipe it off with a towel after my wash and dry. Takes longer that way but looks great afterwards.

....IT ALL depends on whether you have hard or soft water...we have soft..no spots..unfortunatly for you guy's, most of the U.S. has very hard water.

I had a similar problem when washing a friends (red SVT Cobra). I washed the car, and dried it immediately after washing it, but there were still water spots. I have no idea what they were caused by (other than water, obviously), but to get them off, I put a coat of Zaino Z2 on top, and they came right off. I suppose using a clay bar might work also. Hope this helps!

Also for all those guys that love to lather there car up with soap when they wash it, you better be waxing the car after every two washes or so, especially in the summer in the warm climate. I think most people grossly over estimate how long a wax job actually lasts, especially if you use alot of soap. Soap is used to remove grease and oil, oil is just a liquid form of wax.

To add to this I prefer to use a brush in a bucket with a crap ton of dawn. Want it really sudsy. I used to do the microfiber sponge wash thing but I've switched to this because the brush transfers the suds better.
