Default Getting spray paint to stick

For kicks i was ganna try and paint my intake manifold to like a silver or a chrome and see how it looks, anything i need to know about making the spray paint stick?

did you scuff up the intake or sand it down? put a base primer on it?
or maybe there have been write ups about painting the intake manifolds on here.

get some sand paper and rought it up and spray a primer on it

Clear spray on adhesion promoter. Kind of like a primer but makes paint stick to the surface being painted. PepBoys/AutoZone etc. No need for a scuff/primer. Make sure you remove all old wax/contaminents before hand.
