Default white shoe polish on a black car

back in October, I got married and my groomsmen decorated my wife's black 02 Grand Am with white shoe polish - I mean they went nuts and literally covered the entire car. I hosed about 90% of it off the next morning but we went to Cozumel for 2 weeks and the car baked in TX sun the whole time...

since then, it may get driven 2-3 times a week and we're about to trade it in but theres still dried shoe polish all over it. Whats the best way?

Ive tried wd-40, dish soap, pressure washer... I just need to get it off and make the car look somewhat decent before we try to sell it.

its been a while but I'm pretty good with an orbital and will purchase a Porter Cable this weekend. What abrasives/pads/polishes should I buy and from where?

I dont want show quality... just good and shiny

That stuff may be on there now. even when its fresh its hard to get off paint. I made sure they didn't do anything to my paint before I got married that would have made me mad.

anything you use is going to probley show on black paint. rubbing compound may help if its not too harsh.

+2 for claybar... My idiot friends did the same thing (NOTE: To all you other idiots... USE CAR CHAULK, NOT SHOE POLISH!!!!).

Luckily my wife is cool and we went straight to a car wash

Like you said though, 90% came off, the rest (speckle spots all over the car) sat there and baked for a week. Claybar (and a helluva lot of work) did the trick...

Same problem on my birthday one year... Claybar works but try some 50% Rubbing Alcohol. Works great.

That sounds like a good idea.
I remember the same thing happening to my cousins black truck. So I let everyone know before not to touch the paint on mine.

Claybar ..

I hid my car so well when I got married that they spent 6 hours looking for it, and never found it ..

I just took it to the valet park and ride at the airport the day before, then took a cab back to the hotel, and had my brother pick me up .. worked well, since we didn't fly out until the next morning

claybar... ok, cool. Any suggestions for a decent wax afterwards?

LOL, I actually hid the car pretty well during the reception but my best man was smart enough to wait until I was good and plastered before asking me for the keys (to pull it around front he said). I was like "oh yeah, here ya go - I hid it behind the pool house"...

I use 3M hand glaze on all my cars to remove any type of debris in the paint, swirl marks, fading, etc. Best thing I have ever used.

What's with the shoe polish??? Same thing happened to me 20 years ago! I kept the car another 10 years, and could always read 'time to get some booty' when the sun hit the gray paint just right. Thanks bro! Luckily it was only a Buick.
